noun \ri-ˈflek-shən\

1.  an image that is seen in a mirror or on a shiny surface

When you look into the mirror, are you happy with what you see?

Not just on the surface, but on the inside. Who you are today is the result of all the choices and decisions you made throughout this past year.

For some of you, that might feel AWESOME! For others, it might be a wake up call! Regardless of which boat you’re in, ‘reflection’ is a VERY critical thing to invest some time in. ‘Reflection’ can remind you of the things you have to be thankful for, the things you have overcome, achievements you be can proud of. It can also remind you of poor decisions, recurring habits, failures…..etc.

A mentor of mine once taught me the importance of reflection; take a few minutes every day to reflect on the day, take a half hour to an hour to reflect on the past week, take a day to reflect on each month, and take a few days (or longer) to reflect on each passing year. This was taught to me in relation to life and business but it also has it’s place in fitness.

Why do we log our workouts? So we can review data and reflect. How do we know if we are progressing? By reviewing our results; daily, weekly, monthly, and annually. We can then decide what worked, what didn’t work, where should we spend more time, where should we spend less time, what plans do we need to revise, what plans do we stay the course on……etc.

As 2015 is coming to a close, I would like to challenge you to take some time to reflect on your choices for this past year. Are you where you want to be in relation to your fitness goals? If not, what steps do you need to take to achieve your goals moving forward? Did you crush your 2015 goals? (Congrats if you did!) What plans are you putting in place for 2016 goals?

The good news is that each day is a new day and we can make the necessary adjustments to get on track. The trick is learning how to stay on track indefinitely. If achieving your health & fitness goals is important to you, then you WILL find a way to stay on track and achieve them.

Some profound words shared with me from my Coach, Robin Lyons;

"Success is getting what you want, happiness is wanting what you get. Learn how to create a Fitness Journey that is fulfilling and rewarding to YOU. Ask the tough questions about what YOU want.....what YOU value.....and what YOU will gain and lose with your chosen journey. Embrace your life!"
